Easter Egg Hunt, Rabbits Found...
Easter Egg Hunt Winners
Despite a recent fire Berecroft residents association carried on by providing the
children of the estate with an Easter egg hunt on Sunday.

Over 50 children and 20 adults donned on their fluffy ears and masks to find hidden eggs which had been placed around the nature reserve and the child with the most received a prize.

Afterwards an Easter party had been laid on for all the children at Maunds Hatch common room.

Tracy Worsley organizer of this event said...
“This has been a good day for us and we all really enjoyed ourselves and the weather was kind to us too.”

“This is the first time we have tried this and I think this has been a huge success and we will do this again.”

“We would like to thank Harlow Council for the use of the nature reserve which made the morning extra special.”

The party at 65 was well attended by adults and children alike.  Food and drink was available for a small fee of £1.
The catering and music was supplied by local residents and a big thank you to them and the other helpers on the night.

Santa To Visit Berecroft
With a lot of behind the scenes work, we have managed to get Santa to agree and walk around the estate this Friday at 7:30pm.  He will be ringing has bell playing music and handing out sweets, so if you have been good this year look out for him.

At the same time we will be looking at the all the houses that have put lights up and awarding a prize to the one we think is the best this year.

A Successful Bid for LITTER Bins

The Residents Association have received conformation from Harlow Council that their bid for £2000 from the Community Fund has been successful and this means we can now go ahead and order 10 new litter bins for Berecroft.
It is hoped that they will be in place early in the new year and with everyone's cooperation they will help to make our environment a much nicer place.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY

This years MADD was a huge success. Residents working with local volunteers spent the day painting the concrete skirts on the garages and the ranch fencing. This project was suggested by residents and a pilot scheme was so successful it was decided to do all of the garage blocks.
The Residents Association has bought the paint and brushes and will help other residents to paint their garage blocks.

Want to brighten your garage area? Contact a member of the Residents Association and get the ball rolling.

Fun in the Sun

During the School holidays this year the the entertainment for the children continued . A juggler came onto Berecroft three times and each time he first held a workshop for all who wished to learn some of his skills, juggling, diablo and plate spinning to name a few. Then he would entertain the children ending with a spectacular fire juggling display.

For the older children a mobile climbing wall was put up on Ryehill Park on two occasions. This was quite spectacular and the children were queuing all day long.

Thanks to Fiona Gardiner our Community Development Manager without whose help this would not have happened.

Trip to Greenwich

For the second year running two coaches left Berecroft full of residents bound for a good day out. This year our destination was London. On arriving at a pier opposite the London Eye we all boarded a boat for a trip down the Thames, out through the Thames Barrier and then, back to Greenwich to spend what was left of the day there. Greenwich Park, the Observatory, the Cutty Sark and lots of museums, shops and a market  provided lots to see and do.
All the hard work put into this by the Residents Association and  Fiona Gardiner our Community Development Manager was all worth while.

BERECROFT IN BLOOM

The first Berecroft in Bloom Competition was a great success, we may not have front gardens but the effort put into tubs and baskets was amazing.
The judges Nicole Walton, Recycling Officer for Harlow and Fiona Gardiner Community Development Manager had a lovely afternoon walking around Berecroft, both said it was one of the hardest things that they had, had to judge and that everyone deserved a prize.
If you did not enter this year, maybe you will next year and make the judges job even harder!

Funday

This years Funday was another successful day. The sun was shining and the children all had a wonderful time. Our thanks to Malcolm Wodhams and family who helped ferry everything up to Ryehill Park and back again. The helpers also deserve a special mention those of you who ran stalls, made tea and the children who were there at the end and who helped to pick all the litter up, without you all the Funday could not happen.

Old Scout Hut

Due to the efforts of the Residents Association the old Scout hut on land by Maunds Hatch shops has at last been demolished. We have since approached the council to see if a new Community Centre could be built on this land. At a local Community Partnership Meeting £2500 was granted for a feasibility study.

Watch out for more news on what could be a big and exciting project.
